1955s/s/s RPM Lincoln Cent (FS 501), VEDS, Early StageA 1955s/s/s RPM Lincoln Cent (FS 501), VEDS VV- http://varietyvista.com/02a%20LC%20...5SRPM001.htmCC- https://coppercoins.com/lincoln/die...ie_state=edsThis variety isn't especially rare but always fun to come across. It arrived this weekend. I picked it unattributed and I was a little surprised there wasn't more interest from collectors. Maybe the end-of-school summer break worked in my favor? I have treated it with acetone but it didn't help the smudges on the front other than to bring a little color to the field and front of his forehead. Maybe the images will show some of the colors. There also seems to be a curve (the top of another S?) under the tail of the 9 that might be visible. I see part of it in VV images, but more of the curve seems to be visible on this coin. Anyways thanks for looking and on to the images. Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Thanks, everyone. This variety stands out very well so I'm pleased to have ended up with it.

One of my favorites. I've searched hundreds and hundreds of BU and OBW rolls, and this is the target of my searches, though I of course look for the other RPMs, BIEs, Doubled Dies, etc. 55-S is a great year to cherrypick.
While RPM #1 might not be "rare" it is definitely less common than many other RPMs due to the very light punching of the secondary MMs.
I've often searched as well for an LDS example that does NOT show the RPM. So far have not found one, so it may be that the obverse die was retired early for some reason. No LDS examples that show the RPM have been found, so I'm hoping someday to find an example from same die without the RPM.

Not sure about VEDS - looks like some progressive indirect design transfer starting on the reverse, no? Still a great coin though!

What you talk SAM? This is clear a stage B. LOL You need glasses? This it is a beauty of RPM's.
Second line is shorter and fit exact stage B

@Silviosi I said "I'm not sure about VEDS" as in "I'm not sure Pete is correct about it being VEDS. You and I said the same thing, which is that it's not stage A.
