The Obverse and the Reverse are mirror images. I got this in my change from ordering Canes Chicken one night. It seems to be made from two layers put together. It's obviously not struck from the genuine die template, The font and face are very different from any penny I've ever seen. I'm just curious if anyone has ever seen something like this? And how and why was this made? For magic tricks is my best guess?! Thanks in advance. I apologize I think this is the wrong category for this Edited by bellatype 08/06/2023 3:24 pm

bella, it definitely looks like a manufactured " Magician's coin". There are web sites that sell these. At the very least you have a curiosity that is well worth the penny you gave up in exchange.

Definnitely an after-market item, not an altered US Mint coin.

Yes interesting. Not a Magician's coin in the sense that two real coins were joined together but rather a fake coin made with two heads. A fun find!

Cool Find, While a Machinist, I witnessed Coins split in half SOOO Precisely, I was Amazed. Bored people, The Devils Workshop....... The Common person would probably NOT detect it, Clearly a Numismatist/Collector HERE , Would. People would Hollow out a coin on One side To Just before getting through the coin, They would then do the Same to the Matching New Coin and WaLaa.... Thanks for Sharing....

Did you post both sides of your coin? I know it's a double headed coin, but these images are the same down to each dark spot and light reflection. The file names are exactly the same so you may have overwritten the original.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!
