Back when I was a kid, we all had the Whitman folders. I have one now with the sliding plastic windows. What is a better way to put my raw Indians in a folder now? Thanks

Albums with sliding sleeves are always preferable.

The old style Whitman-type folders are ok, but you only get to see one side of the coin. Albums that allow you to see both obverse and reverse are preferable.

Yes, albums featuring sliding 'sleeves' are a good option.

OK, that's what I have now, which is a 40-year-old Whitman folder with the sliding sleeves. So I should stick with that?

Does sliding the sleeve scratch the coin? John1

If the album is in good shape, stick with it! For what it is worth, my two oldest Dansco albums turn 40 next year. Most of the others are in the 30s. Take care of your albums and they will take care of your coins.

For those which can be more valuable when in high grade or even just because they are no longer found in circulation, I'd probably try an intercept shield album since it might help protect the copper. Others like dansco are usually fine as well. https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/pr...hield-album/The typical folders are fine for your run of the mill finds from circulation back then but just keep in mind that these are not very protective for coins that may have some value to them or want to keep their color (red). Things like humidity, temperature, air pollution etc will do a number of things to them over a long number of years especially copper coins which are a bit harder to store than others.

Albums are the way to go - I used to have folders long ago, but got rid of them.

Thanks for the suggestion and link, datadragon. Those Dansco folders look really nice. Looks to be the same system as the old Whitman I've got with the plastic sleeves, but the quality looks a little better.

I mention the Intercept shield albums mainly for copper and generally for coins that people are trying to keep the color or condition of copper over long periods. https://www.interceptshield.com/technology.html
