The American Revolution was the singularly outstanding achievement of the European Enlightenment. It was a fantastic success by any measure. Just two decades after the end of the War of Independence, our country had already created the working institutions capable of mediating the most dynamic society on Earth. And freedom -- LIBERTY -- was at the very heart of the model. Okay, not everyone was free, but the word was out, and the expectations baked right in.

I mean just look at her. Ain't she beautiful, scratches and all?

Grade opinions, pls.

I'll say VF-35 obverse, but reverse cleaned?

Hint: It straight-grades, and there's no evidence of cleaning under my scope. The reverse pic isn't quite faithful.

Most TPGs won't detail scratches on early post-colonial issues unless they are of a certain depth.

VF-20 if straight graded, net graded down. I would give it details rating.

notoriously difficult grade due to striking issues. looks at the definition and separation of the hair ties and the flowing hair on the back of the head and stars 4-7. the strike was definitely not straight on. then you have a completely missing cloud on the rev. and decent definition of the arrows, part of the shield and lower lettering.

the coin has the appearance of a low XF coin but I doubt it grade that especially if they hit hard for the strike and/or consider most of it was wear. I can see this in a VF30 holder and if the grader knew the series well could possibly put it in a 35

Lib appears to be rather well endowed, much like Catherine the Great on Russian coins.

Any denomination of these early silvers are a winner in my book. Congrats!
