The descriptions of their listings over the last day smell like the last option. But how did he get seemingly normal pics of THOSE coins? (consecutive serial numbers on the Asian pieces!)?:

I'm thinking what Realeswatcher is trying to say is that the sold prices are way below the coin's expected value?

If it is a genuine transacted price, then the buyer got a heck of a deal.

The Kweichow Bamboo Dollar coin in XF retails for $480000 (https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/l...-ngc-ef-40), I checked the NGC website and the coin does appear to be the one on the website. However I think the coin is quite fishy, the detail is blurry and weak even for a crudely made variety. I think this coin is likely a counterfeit in a genuine holder. This is likely why only one buyer paid up for it.

Heck, if the coin is a real one, the buyer is surely on his or her lucky day.
