Ok guys good luck collecting! And can you tell the difference from the new genuine in my oppinion michael card and a reprint? The reprint has a yellow arrow the genuine has an orange one, the genuine looks clear printed the reprint looks blurry, and can you see know how if we checkout the ANA library or old magazines we find we stand a little better chance to collect some cool items versus just using the Red Book? And Last but not least I agree my XRF test sounds like it needs to be done professionally at a real shop not some guys garage who can't even get the weight right! Thanks for the clue on a specific gravity test I will look into that. Happy Coin Roll hunting and Collecting!

Quote: So my friend Justin was able to help me find dealer on a site called Allie Baba I think its called and he said their are two that were on loan from the Shenghai Museum that were being copied and that If I wanted two I would have to buy all 28 copies advertised and as a good gesture he would get the other two sent to me. So I bought all of the specimens which most were awful some shiny some dull but clearly newer copper red and I was disheartened and confused as to why did I trust this guy. And then about a year later I received each specimen as promised in the mail both were in PCGS cases but labeled with the same certification number So you are in the habit of buying counterfeit coins from China and posting them online. Quote: E-crater, luckily one 1944 no mintmark was kept from an old jax set along with some 1974 aluminum cents from the Essex Junction Ben Franklin store in 1988 bought for me to play with by an uncle of mine. The newer business that stands in its place is a Lowes on Suzie Wilson road modern day. So the cool thing is I gave Justin a few specimens to take back to China hoping copies could be made So you sent some of your 1974 aluminum cents to China to be copied? By any chance is that where this coin came from.?

We've had some convoluted threads here before but man. 83 copper, Michael Jordan rookie cards, 44 no mint mark, and 74 alum. Have I got this right?

@pige, many of us have collecting interests outside of coins, but please try to restrict your threads here to numismatics. Thx. The subforum linked below is a better spot for those other discussions: http://goccf.com/f/69

Copy that spence. The 1982 small date S mint mark is the next target but I have not heard from justin since he went back to China. I would ask my friend billy if he could get it copied and tell me where I can buy it but he's in the Navy and would never nor would I if I was still government property. It would be nice if the guy or gal who got the 1917 matte finish proof cent the only one in existence would make copies so I could have one for my collection. And no I did not send anything those were free gifts to some one with special interests and the aluminum 1974's were play money included with jax the game where you spin all the jax and try to pick up all the coins before they stop spinning. The 1856 small dates never were real in my oppinion or show me some documentation of their existence and justin got copies of play money not the original ben franklin play money as ben franklin doesn't produce coins and has been out of business for years they were a hobby shop in the 1980's. copies of play money were created on the haas machine in college. Just realize if you read the april 1944 ANA publication of the numistmatist it tells you about fakes the government made.

No the coin I displayed the 1983 was not from China from my understanding but it does not make that idea unlaudable because it came from change and in all honesty I don't know! I do know that the tokens sent to China have always been not real money and the 1856 small date is over 100 years old and protected as an antique. If you have a Penn state library access or access you could probably find documents on Levi McCormick keep in mind I only listened to word of mouth because I'm like a begger trying to get what ever he can find to keep collecting. Because what happens when you collect a whole series you need something else to ooo and ah over. Any who show me some cool 1983's

I would like to copy this one but I can't thats a real coin not a token! besides I would want it made on a 2009 copper satin cent planchet or a matte finish proof planchet.
