Might be the result of Die Deterioration.

Appears to be a perfectly normal 1944 cent.

I see a normal circulated 1944 cent. If you are seeing an L on the rim you need to tell us where it is. Beware of Pareidolia.

A common, well-circulated '44 Wheat cent, showing what may be a minor misaligned obverse die issue. Die Deterioration (depending on the degree) can be revealed by devices (lettering in this case) being closer to the rim.

On the early years of the cent, the L was designed to be on the rim, later on, the design was changed to place it on the field.

to the CCF L on the rim is a ebay error that's not an error. Very common with cent before 1969.
