Just wondering if anyone is using the Coinsnap APP for coin grading. It says it's AI driven and from my use it has seemed to identify coins especially foreign coins I know nothing about. Any feedback?

Not everyone is a fan of Coinsnap for grading: http://goccf.com/t/441592

I personally like the Coinoscope app for identifying modern, foreign coins (but to be fair have not tried Coinsnap).

As I mentioned in the other thread, this is an area where I feel those AI based apps will become extremely useful once developed properly. Grading is simply too expensive for most coins to send in (at least moderns) and even with knowing a general range is very helpful such as whether to send in or toss (grading wise). Identifying varieties or errors would also be interesting but likely take much longer to get right.

So far they are pretty good at helping to identify coins such as the app coinoscope and match it up to a database. It could then match up a 'found' coin with a display of pricing such as numista, and graded prices from NGC and PCGS. At this time however the apps can help at times but seem to not work all that well at least in the grading and so for that reason might not want to pay money for them until they can do something like that reliably well which can then potentially save money by not grading coins that are not likely to be worthwhile. You would have to still figure which potential grade it would get currently. Since they will constantly improve, suggestion might be to try a month each year until its beneficial, or avoid until others say they are. Also generative AI could be added to get feedback such as when the results are poor as otherwise its wrongly telling someone something is say mint state when its clearly not and that could cost rather than save money.

Maybe my robot will be able to help me grade soon since it doesn't get eye fatigue :)
