This "brass tag" from eon Thüringer Energie was a street find of mine near Dublin Airport. As you can see from the rust, it is made from steel (and a magnet is attracted to it). It is uniface, but I've included pics of both sides since I don't think this has been shown here on CCF before. "If you climb a good tree, you get a push." -----Ghanaian proverb

Spence, it looks like the sort of tag that is affixed to electricity meters to prevent tampering. Just a wild guess on my part, however.

Ok yes sorry I should have included a link to this German Energy Company: https://selectra.at/energie/anbiete...nger-energieQuote: The history of E.ON Thüringen Energie AG began in 2005 when Thüringer Energie AG (TEAG) and Gasversorgung Thüringen GmbH (GVT) merged to form E.ON Energie AG . The merger brought together 1,500 employees and 700,000 customers, resulting in sales of 1.2 billion. E.ON Thüringer Energie was a German electricity provider based in Erfurt. As its name suggests, the company was part of the E.ON Group. Incorporated into the E.ON Group in 2005, the spin-off followed in 2013. E.ON Thüringer Energie became TEAG - Thüringer Energie AG. This article deals with the history of the company before 2013 , before TEAG was separated from the E.ON Group.

That is one of life's little mysteries @hondo and one that I cannot answer. It wasn't near any electrical equipment like those big transformers. Maybe it was affixed to a pelican case of a e.on travelling worker and it got sheared off?

The one thing that makes a little sense is this was either affixed to a home electrical meter or the tracer wire on a gas line and some one made a refrigerator magnet out of it how it got to Dublin is anyone's guess. Not saying that's what this is but the one thing that does make a little sense.

Could be @I6609, but just to be clear, I was saying that a magnet is attracted to this tag, but not that when I found it there was a magnet. Really what I meant that I believe it is made from steel.

I understand now I thought that was the way you found it but as you have stated you put the magnet on it to see what kind of metal it may be. I still think the line of thinking is in the right direction.certainly one of our German members could confirm this or combat it as not being what I thought
