Post-strike damage--a hit in circulation. Possibly when 'run' through an old school vending machine.

You can see the hit mark and the pushed metal. Nice close up that confirms damage.

The coin was in circulation long enough to mask any scraped metal or other tell-tale signs of contact. Just damage.
