I have searched about $30 in cents over the last few weeks. These are my keepers. Only showing the obverses since I don't want to remove them and handle them more than I already have. Next time I'll try to take pictures before they are in the folder.

I've looked at so many coins for so many years that there is just a "look" that the right coin has.

I sold my entire coin collection a few years ago, and basically have and tinker with cheap but pleasant coins anymore.

Coins don't have to be expensive to be beautiful, and there is some great nostalgia in memorials for me, having been born in the 70's.

My search process involves one pass where I remove all corroded, filthy, and shield cents. Then I look for what I consider to be quality from what's left over.

@crea, that looks like a nice stash you have there. Are you only looking for cents in higher condition or errors and varieties too?

Looks good. Where ever you find fun in collecting, it's a good thing.

I search for obvious errors — I don't use a loupe for die varieties or anything really demanding, though I may start considering this aspect soon.

CreativeName,
to CCF.
Sounds like you are choosing the ones to keep by eye appeal. That's fine but you might want to learn technical grading as well. Here is a link to study and bookmark: https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/
If you are worried about handling coins too much you might want to use latex or cotton gloves.

Makes me feel like a fish in a pond being attracted to shinny things!
