Here is some info from a vcoins listing for a 1743 silver medal of seemingly identical design:

Quote:
Obverse: scene where Roman ladies enter a room to hand over their jewelry in order for Rome to pay a tribute to the god Apollo, GENEROSITE DES DAMES ROMAINES(= generosity of the Roman ladies), dated AR 360 (= 394 B.C.).

As part of the Roman-Etruscan wars, in 396 B.C. Marcius Furius Camillus managed to conquer the Etruscan city of Veii. Upon completing his conquest of this city, he promised to pay a tithe to the god Apollo at Delphi. In order for this tithe to be paid, the married ladies of Rome contributed their jewelry to the treasury.

Reverse: Tax authorities paying creditors in advance of their survey into outstanding debts with the people, LE FISC ACQUITE LES DETTES DES PARTICULIERS (= the tax authorities acquit the debts of the individuals), dated AR 403 (= 351 B.C.)

The vexations of the creditors still being a subject of complaint for the people, the senate appointed commissioners to examine the debts and so that creditors should not suffer because of this delay, the tax authorities began with paying the creditors.

Nice work @keith to figure out the sculptor and other relevant info. Seems like you have your work cut out for you to assemble the full collection!

Is is a nice bronze medal. It was well made, not the cheaper kind of the era that were cast. These of the earlier eighteenth century can be expensive. And you found a very well preserved one, congratulations.

That's a great looking medal! I've had one of these on my "to get" list for a long time, there are quite a few of them that commemorate all sort of people and events from ancient Rome. There are a few of these that are struck in silver as well.
