Would this be the result of a clogged die potentially?

Might be a Struck Through error. We'll see what the others have to say.

Hard to know for sure with this amount of circulation wear. I'd probably just chalk it up to damage and move on.

[not an expert] it's a little odd that that specific part of the coin is cleaner than anywhere else on the coin. there is also a pretty distinct 'line' where the green ends and the clean begins under the '9'. seems like it may be PMD.

I considered that too shathe. Ty. I'm gonna give it an acetone cleanup to see if it still looks like that

np. in my limited experience, acetone doesn't really 'get rid' of the green. it just stops the corrosion process I think (so it's a good idea to do that either way). acetone can remove some gunk, like ink, paint, gum, etc., but it's not magic, unfortunately. LOL, you probably have a ton more experience with that than me though.

on the coin itself, the potential PMD looks older, like it wasn't done yesterday, but it was done after leaving the mint several years ago... again, not sure though.

also, the parallel lines near the '9' make me think that it was hit by another coin's edge. like another penny. after looking at it again though, the lines run right up to the '5', so I don't think it could be another coin edge that caused that damage... mysterious!

The surface area below the 9 being cleaner makes me suspect.

From this angle I almost see strike through. Thoughts?

Still no way to be certain with this sort of wear. I lean toward a grease issue.
