Hi all, I have a few of these 1970s Wildlife Conservation Silver Proof Coins but they all don't weigh exactly like what the online resources state them to be.

For example, pictured here is the Colombia 500 Pesos 1978, it's stamped on the coin 28.28g but weighs in reality 28.8g.

They all seem to be 0.3 - 0.5g heavier, is this normal?

For all intents and purposes they look right it's just the slight weight discrepancy that is bugging me.

Just a few comments - not sure what the answer is.
I have some of these from 1986 and the certificates say most are at 28.28 gm but one is at 27.22 gm. These were both made at the Royal British Mint. Perhaps they got mixed up with the blanks with yours? I guess that might explain one but not many variances.
Yours looks good and I doubt it is worth the effort to counterfeit.

The device weighing the coins and accurate calibration are things I would question.

Another factor we don't talk about so much is that I very seldom find (if any at all) I don't come across coins that match the stated weight in popular publications.
I do have listings of mint production details showing specified weights, but also a small allowable deviation of plus or minus a little.
