Impossible to say with those overexposed photos. All I can se is that it is better than well circulated.

Hard to tell, but not worth grading if that's what you're thinking.
You realize when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have no control over the pics, this is on ebay. It's in a flip. (I don't understand why sellers don't remove for pics then remount). Seller has 100% reviews and has 30 day buyer paid returns so I might take a chance if it's cheap enough. Ends 11pm pacific time so plenty of time. Current bid is $1.

I've never seen one in person and it would be nice to finally own one. I've bought 3 "OBW" rolls over the last 2 years and nothing although all the rolls yielded nice BU specimens they were obviously cherry picked. One roll was 100% floating roof high quality coins. They sold well @ 2/$6.50

Now I hope I don't cause too much bid competition on this lot. If it's cheap enough I'll try to snipe it last minute

typically there is a reason why sellers obscure the coin using angles and lighting. its to hide flaws so you can't see them. the steps are pretty beat up and its hard to tell whats going on on the obv left field. could be a bunch of scratches as well as the shoulder

i would not touch this one without better photos

thanks panzaldi. the seller has 30 day returns, so if it stays cheap I might take a chance. wouldn't be the first I've returned from ebay. GC has one I'm watching too (ANACS MS-64 RD)

Low quality pictures, looks like a large date and pretty typical MS-63 or so.

@ keith12 & BadThad - the more I look at this the more I think you are right. The 7 looks a hair low, the loop of the 9 is not as tight as it should be and the E in Liberty looks pretty well struck I think. Oh well.

Easy enough to take this off my watch list and move on. Thanks!

another thing I just noticed is what appears to be a large scratch running from cheek under the eye down to the jaw. it looks fairly deep. could it be lighting/glare...sure. just wanted to call that out in case you missed it. also, I'm seeing something similar around the ear area

well, I went ahead and bought it for $18. want to see what it looks like in hand. 30 day return so can only lose postage. trying to learn how to judge coins only from pics. closest LCS that actually has coins for sale and not just bullion is about 45 minutes away and the owner is not very personable, so ...

If have it in hand now, definitely a small date. Can't get good pics of the fields or sharp details but looks like very slight wear on the cheek and beard. Also 3-4 bag marks on obv and 2-3 on rev. At least I can stop buying not 'OBW' rolls trying to get one in the wild.
