Just got the grade in on this beauty today! Care to guess, it is PCGS holdered. Oh, that gunk on the "N" in UNITED on the reverse was removed with acetone before grading, so ignore it GRADE ADDED; Line # Item # Cert # PCGS No. CoinDate Denomination Variety Country Grade 1 1 14836070 7130 1881-S $1 US MS66 Pic of her in her new home; Edited by TonedCoinTrader 04/02/2009 10:42 pm

I will guess MS 63? Still a lot to learn.

Wow, talk about amazing eye appeal. There doesn't seem to be that much cheek chatter that is prevalent on MS63, so I'm going to go with MS64 and possibly with the eye appeal, I would not be surprised if they gave it a 65.

I really like the rainbow tone on this coin. I am very new to grading, but looks like a MS65 to me very few contact marks and excellent eye appeal. I don't understand how luster is graded on toned coins?

I believe that 1881-S Morgans are usually pretty gemmy. Main area of note is a possible field scuff from the nose to chin or it is just a break in toning?
MS65 and maybe 66 if that is not a scuff

It is a light surface scuff under the toning.

Knowing these aren't hard to make in higher grades, I think I can get on board with 65. The cheek is a little too colorful for easy evaluation, so I'm only cautiously optimistic about the grade.
Stunning coin.

Woohoo That is an awesome Morgan TCT, the cheek and eagle breast are extremely clean and of course, it might have gotten a 1 point eye appeal bump too
