Please take a look at this 1954 S penny with several errors/markings. Please provide your thoughts on each. Obverse 1) "S" Mintmark doubled 2) Partial letter/number above the "V" in VBD. Potential strike through? 3) Die crack in forehead (No detail photo) Reverse 4) Die chip and crack in right leaf. 5) Die chip and crack in left leaf. 6) Doubling in E PLURIBUS

I see a very nice RPM, and several die cracks, and chips. - nice diagnosis.

Nice coin, but I don't think it is a DDR as there are none known for the '54 S cents. Rather, that looks more like a little DDD to me.

Reverse is either MD and or DDD not a DDR. It does look like a nice RPM,check the reference sites for a match and let us know what you find out. John1

The RPM looks like 1954-S RPM-002, around Stage D has the die chips and similar cracks on left and right wheat. Does that look correct? How about the marking just above the "V" in VDB. It looks raised to me like the bottom of a 'B"? Added another photo.

Mint mark position appears to be incorrect for RPM-002

Check the listings again on the RPM. Looks like that's a circulation hit above VDB.

@lawest - mintmark does look to be in the correct position for RPM-002. @Cujohn - I checked the RPM-002 listing on VarietyVista and all I see is a noted die crack above VDB, which there is a minor die crack in the coin I have in this topic. I'm not familiar with what you say as a "circulation hit". Are you saying the marking above the VDB is PMD?

On any variety the MM placement is the one thing that has to matchup. The markers can be different because of early or late die state. die damage, or any other change in the dies life. Look at 002 again. It's almost centered, yours is not. Check this site. http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php The incused mark above the VDB looks like damage.
