What is the deal with these 1979 Susan B Anthony dollars "Rare FG" coins selling for $250-$500. Am I missing something? I've tried looking up this type of error with no luck. Please enlighten me. I just saw one go for $500.00 at a regular non ebay auction.

kurdlezuit, this was discussed in a thread earlier this week. It boils down to either fraudsters taking advantage of idiots or something more sinister.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Somehow I missed that thread. I will look back. I noticed them on ebay for a long time now. I've tried looking them up before and came to the same conclusion.
What caught me off guard was seeing a normal auction company sell one off with the same title as these people selling them on ebay.
Usually they are better at vetting these things.
Thanks Hondo

...money laundering on a small scale, the coin is just a 'front' for illegal activity, too small for any agency to spend time investigating ... my opinion...

...kurdlezuit...a friend who works at Treasury (secret service) says the same thing ... he said that they have $250,000 counterfeiting cases piled on their desks, & no time to investigate...too many bigger cases to work. Same at the FBI, friend says basically the same thing ... this world is full of theives & vagabonds ...
