Well I am now officially ready for knighthood because I just received a package from rggoodie with some coins I needed to become a knight. I am not sure where some of them came from but they are here none the less. I will do some searching online to find the countries they came from later today

Bryan, check out the topic in australian section, all the "different" Australian animals are explained there.
And don't worry, I thought it was an ostrich at first, and it was Kegan to correct me (thanks mate)

Got-My-Coins-From-Rggoodie

Fifty cent - the Australian coat of arms. This large coin is dodecagonal (twelve-sided) cupro-nickel; it replaced a round silver 50 cent coin which, soon after issue, became far more valuable for its silver content than as a unit of currency. In recent years, 20c and 50c as well as 1 dollar coins have also been issued featuring a variety of commemorative and United Nations "year of" themes. Australian coins are produced by the Royal Australian Mint.

Coat of Arms: Australia's coat of arms was granted in 1912 by King George V. It consists of a shield composed of six parts, each containing one of the state badges. The shield is supported by two Australian animals, the kangaroo and the emu. Not only are these two animals typically Australian, but they are they are unique in another way: they are physically not able to walk backwards, signifying Australia as a forward-moving, forward-thinking nation!

The Australian Coat of Arms consists of the Badges of the six States of the Commonwealth arranged on a shield in two rows of three columns:
New South Wales - Golden Lion passant (right to left) on a red St George's Cross on a silver background (usually depicted white), with an 8-pointed star on each extremity of the cross.
Victoria - White Southern Cross (one star of 8 points, 2 of 7 points one of 6 points and one of 5 points), beneath an Imperial Crown, on a blue background.
Queensland - light blue Maltese Cross with an Imperial Crown at its Centre, on a white background.
South Australia - the White-Backed Magpie (or Piping Shrike), erect, wings outstretched, on a yellow background.
Western Australia - Black Swan swimming, left to right, on a yellow background.

The coin you refer to is the soverign or the half soverign
the reverse is from a famous painting by Benedetto Pistrucci of St. George slaying the dragon

The legend goes that the courageous St. George rescued a princess by slaying the vicious dragon, and on the spot where the dragon's blood spilled a rose grew as a symbol of love and friendship.

St. George is not naked
and the price of a half soverigh or soverign will run you from
$135.00 to $600,000.00
