I was at my local antique store today, looking to pick up some Peace dollars. After I picked several (will post later) I spotted the familiar blue US Mint box and asked to see it. Looked so good in my hands I had to have it. Upon arriving home I opened my coin spreadsheet to record my purchases. Oh Noooo. I already have 2 entries for this commemorative, both are 2-coin sets! At least this one is a single coin. http://goccf.com/t/452905&SearchTerms=world,war,ii Edited by mike31093 10/11/2023 7:33 pm

@mike, you and John (Dearborn) have too much money. You should send me all your duplicates for safe keeping.

@mike, it happens to the best of us. I mentioned a couple days ago about having a duplicate coin over in the OFEY thread.

dearborn [ deer-bern, -bawrn ] verb - to buy a coin you already have, usually by accident. Example: "I am always checking my inventory. I do not want to dearborn another Eisenhower dollar."

Quote:Example: "I am always checking my inventory. I do not want dearborn another Eisenhower dollar." But, Umm, shouldn't that read: "Example: "I am always checking my inventory. I do not want to dearborn another Eisenhower dollar." ?

I did dearborn an Indian Head cent once! I looked back at my logs because I thought I remembered that I did it.

I do it too often with varieties of my 2 cent collection. That is why I'm trying to build a photo database that I can carry on my phone to shows. At least when I buy them online, I can only blame myself for not checking before pulling the trigger on one, at shows I don't have access to all my notes and photos of the 100's of them I already do have. DOH! These days it's an expensive mistake as prices have doubled or more on the grades I look for.
