My Grandfather left me a glass jar of mostly Canadian half dollars but there were also a few American half dollars in it as well.
From what I could find online this coin has the lowest mintage of the bunch. I don't have experience with American coins so I would appreciate any thoughts on grade, value etc. that the community would be willing to share. I had already put it in a 2x2 flip so the photos are of the coin in the 2x2. Thanks

That diamond shape around the mintmark would make me cautious.

I'm not convinced that coin started out with a mint mark, there appears to be a lot going on in that area.

And yet, there would be no reason for tool marks to be there if a MM was added, rather than altered.

I see a lot of them on Heritage where the mint mark appears to be in a depression, and in G4 many that look just like this one. Example below. Therefore I don't have concerns that it's altered. It looks slightly better than G4 but not sure if it makes G6. If G5 was a grade I'd say that. Value $80-120?

Agree with a grade of G4. Looks genuine to my eye.

Real, original, G4, if the rims were a tad stronger she would be close to G6
