This is an auction that ends in a few hours. The reverse on this coin was only used in 1870 (or only documented for that year).

It is a re-hubbed Shallow N/Bold N reverse, evident by the serifs in the letter Es in ONE and CENT. You can see the E in One is the design on the Shallow N, while the E in CENT is that of the Bold N. Is this counterfeit, or a whole new reverse variety for the date?

Im guessing the owner of this listing saw this forum and removed the auction. It was supposed to end later today. I emailed Rick and his response was interesting.....

Would not say counterfeit based on the photos, wanted to see it in person.

So....If the owner of this auction did see this forum and pull the coin......please send it to Rick so he can confirm this possible new find.

The photos look like a Cards and Coins listing. His pics always look like that.

Update:
The photo of the reverse was an error. It was the exact same photo from an 1870 listing they had that ended yesterday. No new variety found.

It is definitely a coinsncards coin. They just have that "freshly cleaned" look, mainly because they are.

The extension below c in Cent is part of a die clash, quite common amongst IHCs.

Sellers....Its been determined it is not a new variety, nor is this an error. My guess is it will be relisted very soon with the correct reverse photo.
