Unable to fully evaluate because your photos are overmagnified beyond the 800x800 pixels the board recommends. Please use a size of 800x800 or so because that tends to make a sharper image, and works with more equipment which allows more members to participate.

It's not an error. It's been damaged after it left the U.S. Mint. PMD. Not sure how exactly, since there's many ways a coin can get damage after leaving the Mint.

Yes that is all damage--this isn't a clipped planchet.

What are yall using Commodore 64's? lol
Maybe something happened with the pics they looked fine to me idk? Tomorrow I'll try to take new ones.

I'll describe it as I see it. Looks like it happened at the mint. The flap of copper that forms the edge is bent over what looks like a rand of some sort. A portion of it is straight and the remainder follows the circumference. It's not ground off more like something foreign with serrations got wedged between the edge of planchet and when it was struck the flap folded over it.

Give it up, @Cud. This could not possibly have happened at the mint. Seriously.

My Vic-20 is up and running just fine, and this coin is just intentionally damaged AFTER it left the mint. Nothing at the coin press could have done this.

I should clarify the part about the flap. It's like the planchet was too big for the anvil and formed a flap. The seam of it goes around entire circumference

Cud, sorry, but this didn't happen at the Mint. All of this is damage. Studying about the minting process, will help you understand that this isn't possible to happen during the minting process. Take some time and read about the minting process. https://www.usmint.gov/learn/produc...n-production

I can make as many of these as you want with my grinder and my vise (for the reed look).

Not an error. Intentional damage. How it happened only one person knows for sure. PMD all day long.

I'm thinking the "reeds" are from a serrated bottom jaw tin snips. They were made to hold onto the work so it didn't slip. The obverse was the smooth jaw.
