Hey hey collectors! I recently participated in an auction sale in Toronto put on by G. Bell Auctions. A big part of their sale was the collection of the late Ralph Dickieson of PEI. If any of you saw the cover and story in CCN lately then you are aware of the sale and some of Ralph's collection of coins , paper and tokens. I knew Ralph in his later years as a seller at shows and his weekend spot at the market. He was an early member if not one of the founders of the PEI Numismatic Association back in the early sixties. So when I saw all the homemade displays of coins etc I knew it was his collection...he used these to educate and proudly display the Island coins he cherished. I bid on many of the lots but only got one to keep. A mediocre piece but probably the only coin returning back to PEI that I'm aware of..the rest are probably somewhere else and most likely not still in these holders. Theres not too many great collections like that left around any longer that have stories attached them or their caretakers.

Congratulations, ironhorse! It's wonderful that you are returning this treasure back to its original home.

Thank you all for the comments and kind words.
After posting this I had a little chuckle to myself...so often I read on this forum..."buy the coin not the holder"...I blew it lol I feel equally good buying the coin and the holder..they support one another in this case.

I thought I would add this to @ironhorse's post. This one did not stay in PEI nor did it stay in Ralph's display case (although I will be keeping the case), but I did ask Scott at ICCS to add Ex: Ralph Dickieson to the comments in order to permanently recognize Ralph's collection and maintain the pedigree. This one is a beauty.

Very nice, Makitag! Could you share a picture of Ralph Dickieson's holder for this beauty?
