IMHO the lamination peel is evidenced by americA, where that A is visible, usually when struck through the whole device is gone

Maybe an Uncentered Broadstrike with a Lamination?
Errers and Varietys.

Very nice coin. And yes, it is not an off center but an uncentered broad strike as already noted. Something like this, without the lamination, likely would sell around $140. The lamination, however, is likely to lower that value a bit. Multiple errors on a single coin only add to the value if they accentuate the first error, and in general lamination errors are considered detracting to the overall appeal of a coin.

Bats that is funny about lams. For some reason they don't appeal to me either. I don't think I own any or if I do they are in the "sell later" pile. Really cool coin by the way!

Thanks for the advice tropicalbats. I actually bought one of your minor error lots on ebay a month or so ago. Mostly to resell but kept a bunch of cool stuff. First time actually being able to see an rpm without a scope.

Cool! Glad you found some good stuff in the lot. One other thing I should mention about lams is that at least PCGS considers it damage. So unless you pay the fee and submit as an error coin, they will "details" a coin with anything more than a tiny lamination on it. This happened to me with a 1917 Lincoln Cent doubled die, with just a very small lam, and they details graded it.

I'll just leave it to the future owner to entomb the coin. I know there is someone out there who will appreciate the lam. I sell a few lams a week for $4-$8 depending on date and mm. I'll be looking out for your auction lots, got to keep the shelves stocked.

, but thought I'd ask about two other things. Is that a die crack under or through the N in UNUM? Also do the pictures represent the coins appearance in hand? If so, was wondering if sometime in the past, an attempt was made at preservation or was later applied? The (oily) sheen does not look natural. That said I like what I see, but might effect third party grading. Thanks, Doug.
