I occasionally see a used Dansco album that looks in good condition, but, it may have a small spot or blemish. What is the cover made of.? Is it leather? Does Dansco recommend a cleaner?

Dearborn used isopropyl alcohol (99% strength) to remove the page labeling...

It should be okay for cleaning. Just be careful to avoid the text (on pages and on the binder) As is often said, test on an inconspicuous spot first.

This quote from https://www.danscoalbumstore.com says that the binders are a 'simulated leather'.

Quote:
Pages are housed in a two-post simulated leather binder and beautifully gold stamped. A quality that remains long after the price has been forgotten. Albums you will be proud to own.

If it were me, I would use the tried and true cleaner acetone. My biggest concern would be off gassing of any cleaner residue left behind. Acetone has been used by many for the gentle cleaning of crud from coins for years. Therefore I wouldn't hesitate on using it for a coin album as well. Leave the plastic slides out for an hour or so after cleaning to give things adequate time to air out.

Caution, caution, caution.... Yes, test on a small 'hidden' area first. Could you post a pic of the stain/spot/discoloration?
