I have 1966 P quarter with no serrations. The rim looks normal.
It measures from 0.9435" to 0.9465"
Another 1966 with serrations measures 0.9530"
Does the serration process add to the diameter?
I see no evidence that there ever were serrations.
But wondering?
Sadly it has a big blemish.

@mav, I don't see how the rim could be struck up without producing the reeds on the edge. I suspect that mechanical damage has flattened out the rim of your quarter.

@Spence, I didn't know the reeds were struck at the same time the the coin was struck was, I thought the reeds would be rolled on.
Spence since you are a moderator,
Can you explain what I'm doing wrong?
I have had two posts moved when I think I put them in the right place.
I click where the red arrow points.
Thanks, MavamQ
P.S. I tried responding to the email sent. Can't.

Ok yes. The type of coin and type of question determine the best place to put threads. In the case of this thread, you have a US Quarter (specifically a Washington quarter). Those are placed in the US Modern Variety and Error Coin subforum. Older Us Quarters (like standing liberty) would go in that subforum you are pointing to with the arrow.

Aye, the beginning of a quintessential dryer coin--a modern US quarter.

I agree. Might be an early staged Dryer Coin. PMD.
