Good evening CCF. I've done a LOT of reading material on various sites about 1978 S Proofs and have determined that the mintage was relatively low at 3,127,781 and that there was not a lot of high graded coins recorded due to the generally low quality coins produced that year. I also see that there are no "attributed" DDO's for 1978 proofs. Soooo... I went back and looked at all the 78's posted on CCF in the search engine and came away thinking that this doubling is not a DDD moving towards the edge and doesn't fit the MD shelf like doubling . Note the 8 in the date. Found this in a proof set and would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

yep, Machine Doubling can happen on proofs, and 3 million is not a relatively low proof mintage, but one of the higher
