The-Second-Frith-1942-Nickel-Found,-Lol-Lol.

Hi,I havn't got a new scale to weigh the 83 penny from my previous post, helping parents get winterized at the house,I will soon but wanted to post a pic of the 1942 Nickel I bought last night.

Once a month or so like most here I scan the websites quickly looking for stuff,1943,44,65 Silvers,82D and 83 Coppers,92D Close etc,I was going through the 42 Nickels and noticed this, there is something there that looks like an S but the original pic I posted for it is all I have to go by and it was small, this is a cropped pic 2X,5 bucks and it's in the mail today LOL,maybe you guys can blow it up and have a better imager than me,something is there for sure but who knows, never pass on stuff like this in the dollar bins is my motto.

This looks more like a usual 1942 non-silver nickel with some paridolia popping up looking like an S. Since 1942 is a transition year, there would be a large mintmark above the building distinguishing the silver ones from nickel ones. The only normal mintmark would be to the right side of the building and would be only D for Denver and would also be a normal semi-key date.

I looked around at the reverse's on all the 41's last night and there are some S coins I saw in the general area of this mark,I'll look around at the D's later but not doing to much research on it,it's 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% just another 42 but I don't pass on this stuff for under 10 bucks, somebody has to win the Powerball Lottery LOL.

As near as I remember there were no 1942-S non-silver nickels minted and the Silver ones had a huge 'S' above the dome of Monticello.
Now, as far as I can tell, this nickel may be a Denver non-silver nickel - the MM looks damaged - in 1942 Denver did not mint any silver nickels.

These images are so blurry they are of no real help. So, when you get this coin in hand, lets see better images to analyze.

Hi,just google "Frith Nickel" Sir there's a lot of info on it,it's a 1942 Nickel with the 1941 reverse that's claimed as a transitional error,I scan all the 42 nickels on the website every so often looking for one, this is the first time I ever saw a prospect in all the years hunting but the pics are not real good,it's in the mail I'll know soon but not expecting much out of it,lots of controversy around the firth though since it was found in 1961,to much to write here,it's all on the web though.

Here's a link I don't think the moderators will mind it's an educational link not selling or buying link.
