I am wanting opinions on whether very old fingerprints have much effect on coin grading? I just noticed them on this Morgan which actually graded MS64 about 10 years ago.

They show primarily on the reverse, but also a little on the obverse.

Any input appreciated!

To me, that grade is a gift.

In my observation TPGs don't explicitly deduct for fingerprints. Certainly it impacts eye appeal and value.

Ugly fingerprints affect eye appeal. Eye appeal is a significant factor in Gem mint state and higher grades. I would assume it has little to no affect at the 64 or lower grade level.

I'm betting the fingerprints got darker over time and were not this prominent when it was slabbed. the obv is little weak for the year. the eye appeal is pretty bad on this one. technically i'd put it at MS63 maybe close to 64 but I would not touch this one even at MS62 $$ as there are so many nice ones out there

as stated they don't take off for fingerprints however when I see a coin with them, its a big pass

Very poor eye appeal.
