Well it is shelf-like - I would have to say a bit of MD on the S

Nice images. Interesting. I'm seeing this differently.
It's not looking shelflike to these eyes, with even a little notching on the top. I would expect to see more devices with the same doubling if the working die that produced this coin were doubled.
(If this "S" were a San Fran MM, it would get close scrutiny as a possible RPM.)

I'll admit that does look like a clear split on the S. But if there are no signs of doubling anywhere else that's just not enough to confirm it's a DDO or not.

So minor as to unlikely affect the grade or value of this coin.

Don't get me wrong. Finding something valuable is always fun. But I just like the idea of finding something new or just neat too

Tanman's explanation is much more clear and I agree with him.

It's definitely not MDD. Could be a Type-III DDO, but I'm not aware of a change to the S in 1910. Perhaps a new discovery? Would be interesting to see overlays with some other 1910 Cents to see if there are two types of S. Also would be good to check everywhere else on the coin to see if there are other changes to the design.

Finding something is fun regardless of value. You should first go to PCGS or Heritage etc image galleries and see if there's another one. Especially with something "new" you have to do your own legwork. In this case I quickly found a couple that may or may not be the same thing, not saying they are, and I don't have an explanation.
