I found a 2001 penny at the gas station and it looked different. I had never seen anything like this before. I'm thinking its a PMD but wanted some advice my trusted source which is yall. Thanks

@vogo, copper can color that shade of green (think Statue of Liberty). I'd love to see pics of the faces of this cent though.

Looks like a buried coin, fountain coin, road kill or even a lost coin that has been at the bottom of a tool box. In any case it is just a damaged coin worth one cent.

Amino acids. Cu in contact with those will develop the green cupric oxide.

looks like the copper plating was removed from the edge - exposing the zinc core.
