There must be an astounding number of doubled dies on nickels. I don't look at all that many but every time I do I find doubled dies. This one I would consider quite strong, as it can be seen all the way up to M of Monticello. Pics aren't great here but a bit short on sleep and not running on all cylinders at the moment.

That's a nice one. Do you find them CRH, or are these from better preserved rolls? There seem to be a lot of minor doubled dies prior to 1965, but finding them in decent condition seems to be a challenge.

This one was just in a bag of dealer face value coins. Just stuff not worth enough for a dealer to keep so they throw them in a bag and sell it face value or take it to the bank. Usually some decent grade cons in such bags so I buy them. It's a no-lose scenario as always worth what I paid for them.

Interesting. I had never heard of face value bags from dealers.

Very clear, yes. Now I need to re-examine my '63 Ds.

. That's a nice one for that year.
I tried to stay away from Nickels.
They're so beat up usually, no matter what year.

Thanks all! And I gotta agree with RobO that nickels are tough for varieties. They come off the line with mooshy devices and seem to get nicked up very quickly. I pretty much try to stay with just looking at AU or better for them, and even then some of the die wear is so bad you can't see anything.
