1921 Morgan dollar from the San Francisco mint, This Morgan in question has a very strange curiosity. When I started looking at the VAM of that year to identify it, I got confused about the mint and I started looking at the Philadelphia VAM, and at first glance I found it to be a match, VAM3...but of course, the dollar is not from Philadelphia, it is from San Francisco, and in its corresponding VAM list that variant does not appear¿? So is it a San Francisco dollar with a variant of the Philadelphia mint? Why? Judge for yourselves. *** Edited by Staff to clarify the topic title. I don't see a MM from San Francisco on your coin.
Why do you say it's from the San Francisco mint?
EDIT: Also, how many berries are in the wreath on your coin? (I can't make them out on your coin.)
Second Edit: That doesn't look like an "S" under the wreath. Can you give us a closeup of the area under the wreath?

16 berry The only match with VAM31 is the F, none of the other details appear on this coin.

Look at the things I have marked up on your coin. If you pay attention to these things when you start attributing a coin, it will narrow down the number of VAMs you have to go through.

Yeah, can definitely confirm that is a San Francisco mint on there... Actually all three mints from 1921 have that same exact spike coming off the OF...

Once again, be sure to bookmark the link I gave you on the other thread you started. It will help you greatly. Most of the date/mm will separate the VAMs into categories that will help you narrow them down to a much smaller number to look through.

I am a master of absolutely nothing but you are welcome. I would like to see you attribute your next one on your own and post it for us.

New photo showing another characteristic of the coin, coinciding with VAM1BF
