There's a dull grey region across the obverse that I'm curious about. The reverse looks normal.

Doubt this is an annealing issue, looks more like a stain of some sort.

@sick, surface staining like this is most typically due to chemical/environmental exposure. This quarter, for example, may have spent some time in a car's cup holder partially soaking in Coke. I don't think that you have a mint error here.
