Scored this today in a junk bin. I think it has like fs-801 or something on the reverse. It almost looks like really bad Machine Doubling. Not sure.

I see what appears to be Longacre doubling on "HALF DOL."

I was thinking the exact same thing @nfine, but I guess that I'm not positive it occurs on anything but early small cents. Hopefully, someone smarter than me (like you) can confirm this phenomenon is found on other denominations.

Indeed it looks like Longacre Doubling but in this case I'm thinking it may be a deteriorated die issue since it affects the devices as well as the lettering.

That coin was in a junk bin? I'd be scouring it for more if a dealer is selling stuff like that as junk silver.

Fantastic score! Longacre doubling occurs on all denomimations in that time period. Theory goes that it shows up in the hubbing process.

Yes, I agree that it is Longacre doubling. Great score AND this is die marriage WB-101, WB-19 which has a rarity of R-6! I would be interested if you are willing to sell?
