That is zinc rot starting not an error.

Yes a small hole in the copper plating has allowed the underlying zinc core to start deteriorating. This cent would be a spender for me.

Yes, split plating associated with the mint mark has exposed the zinc core, which has resulted in zinc rot. Cool example.

funny how it looks like a 4 over a 0, but the '0' is a zinc bubble, as well as the mess that became of the D mint mark.
