Hello, I have a dime that has a copper stripe on the back and a striking divot above the "D" in United States. I've saved this for many years because I thought it was interesting; I rediscovered it recently and am curious if it has any value either than the obvious $.10. I did an image search on Google and did not see anything similar to it. I would sincerely appreciate your thoughts and comments. Thanks!

Possibly partial missing clad layer, can you improve pic & make it bigger?

Also, have you weighed it in comparison to other dimes? & please provide a pic of the Obverse, which would be helpful regarding condition. IMO, it definitely looks promising & would be more valuable than just .10

Could be missing clad layer, also could be environmental staining/corrosion.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! It took me a little while to get good photos of the right size. I had not thought to have it weighed, that's a great idea - what should a dime weigh?

It should weigh 2.2 grams, if it's normal. Should weight less, without the clad layer. https://www.pcgs.com/news/missing-c...rmal%20coin.

Could be a nice find, but we'll wait for the weight and see.

to the CCF The weight wouldn't be very different from 2.27 with this little missing. With the complete reverse missing it would weigh in the neiborhood of 1.95. Looks promising. To bad about the scratches on the face.

I took it to a jeweler and they weighed it at 2.266 grams. I've attached pics of the sides with the stripe oriented from 12:00 to 6:00. You can see in the one that it is noticeably thinner and, generally, only two layers are apparent.
Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
