I'll say MS-64. Still a nice coin either way.

Easy to understand that there were no correct guesses.

Wow, do you have it in hand? What is your opinion on grade?

I'm a bit gobsmacked. They must've attributed all the concerns I noted above to bag wear and/or striking issues.
Since the coin checks out as original and Mint State, I'm seeing an undergraded coin here. If you paid an MS-60 price for this beautiful coin, you did well!

Not my coin, I just noticed it for sale and thought "huh?".

That makes me think the hairlines are on the coin and not the slab.

"Market Grading" strikes again. This is why I hate that trend. Coins should either be technically graded or hold a details designation - not a compromise to appease the market. The +/* designation can be used to rate eye appeal, and they could even consider a "-" designation if they choose. The whole concept is misleading in a world where the grade is supposed to be consistent. (Now Bump steps down from his stump once again and sulks back into the shadows...)

if those hairlines are on the holder i'll go MS64 and I'm really going to step out on a hunch that the coin may have been graded AU58

MS-60 is a flat out weird grade to me.

MS-60 is seldom used now.

Fayette1800 you and panzaldi are late to the party. The grade has already been revealed by the OP. Bump111 nailed it, market grading.

@Bump111 - I agree. This MS60 seems to be saying "UNC Details but not quite 'details' enough to call it that." Or, "Really really close to AU58 but we don't want to call it circulated because it's too pretty." Or both. Or, "we threw a dart at the wall." They don't value coins, but they'll grade it based on what they think the value should be. MS60 is a weird grade to assign to this coin. Is it a 64 that they think is worth half as much, or a 62 that they think is worth 88% as much?
I suppose there's also an outside chance that it's a "mechanical error."

I think this is just a mishandled MS coin. Nothing they could see to "details" it but not a choice example either.

My guess is it's an AU coin bumped up. A true 60 is unusual and beat to heck. This clearly is not beat up. The luster loss on the obverse says AU+.
