Having trouble finding this exact token or so called dollar. Whatever. Read there were quite a few designs. Not sure if it's real or reproduction. Commerative

On a more serious note if you search Lewis and Clark on ebay you'll come avross a couple of examples. Both sellers refer to it as "HK-333," which I assume refers to a reference I'm unfamiliar with. Both sellers are asking close to $200. One seller claims there are only 21-50 examples known.

That is listed in the new Shevlin book as SH 14-4. There are several varieties and it is difficult to tell them apart but I think this is SH 14-4 listed as R-5.

Here is some reading that you may find of interest. So-Called Dollars are a popular collecting field for some of us. I can't say for sure if yours is real, but I suspect that it is.

I can provide some informed insight:

Does it have a reeded edge? If yes then it is HK-331 and if no then it is HK-329.

@Howell, HK-333 is the same medal but without the 1905 date at the bottom of the obverse.

The HK refers to a cataloging system for So Called Dollars that was initially published in 1963 by Harold Hibler and Charles Kappen. The second revised edition was published in 2008.

Both HK-329 and HK-331 have rarity of R6 on the Fuld Rarity Scale (this is the traditional scale used for large cents). R6 means 21 to 75 examples known.

My references show a MS value range of $75 to $300.
