Hello community! I have this 1874 Trade dollar with correct size and weight. But.. There is a lot of errors on it, and probably this one is a fake coin. Please share your opinion. First one is "4" in date. Looks like overprint. And no other strange stuff on this side. The other side is funny. In AMERICA - Line on top of each letter. First "L" in DOLLAR separated. And dots under the DOLLAR - you can see on pictures. Very strange as for me. Many thanks for your time guys! Lavrentiy

I agree that it's fake. Look at the garbage denticles below Dollar and elsewhere. Casting bubbles all over it. I bet it's thicker than normal to get the weight to be close. Try to get a refund or throw it out.

If considering fake, and weight and size OK, - comparison ping tone (against a known genuine Trade dollar) OK? I must admit, I am definitely not happy with dots under DOLLAR, and lack of good rim denticle detail.

Interesting collectable if it was a contemporary circulating counterfeit.

Many thanks for warm welcome and for all your answers!! Yes, it is looks like was in circulation. Probably it was circulating counterfeit. I am always buying bulk lots with hundreds of coins. If I buy good coins, always trying to check details like this before. I have huge collection of fake coins and counterfeit Many thanks all!!!
