In early November, I purchased 16 half dollars from a teller at a bank located in an adjacent town. Ten of those coins were 40% silver Kennedy half dollars (1st photo). This afternoon I went to the same bank and asked a different teller if she had any half dollars. She told me she had seven coins that a customer gave her last week. When she handed them to me, I could see that most of them were badly tarnished -- and when I checked the dates I saw that two of them were 40% silver coins (2nd photo). I have found several tarnished silver half dollars that are easily overlooked because of their appearance.
I am surprised --but pleased -- that 12 of the 23 half dollars I have acquired at there contain silver. You bet that I will continue to visit that bank!
