Verdicare does not have instructions. at least when I got mine it didnt. i'd search on this site for usage or just ask anyone how they would go about it.

Clicked on it and it does not bring me to the PDF. I had to go to the item and scroll down to the link for instructions. John1

1914 after using Verti-Care. I may try a second treatment on it... I also got my Nikon D-100 charged up and working. Used a Sigma 70-300 macro lens with a NikonPN-11 extension tube.

New pic looks to be a bit over lit. Try reducing the light a bit now that the coin is brighter. I would also try a rinse with isopropanol after the VC to see how it looks. Did you treat the reverse or only the obverse?

And, ouch, I see a large staple scratch across the head - it didn't show in the first pictures.

Did you treat the reverse or only the obverse? Yeah, I'm still trying to find the right settings to get accurate color from my Nikon D-100. I have to lay the coin on the floor and use a tripod with a 10 pound camera hanging off of it. Not the best setup for photographing coins but still better than cell phone pics with random lighting. I've also ordered a new microscope camera that should be here next week, so I'll probably stop pestering you guys until after I get it up and running. These are a bit closer to the real color. And yes I did treat both sides. Here are the pics...

I have two white haired dogs in the house that shed about two dogs a year worth of hair, and I guess one of them landed on the coin as was taking the picture. I noticed it too, but when I looked under the scope there was no scratch.

Yes, GREAT pictures, excellent white balance (thanks for using a white background) - stick with the D100! Those little microscopes suck for whole coin pictures, fine for MM's and such but that's it. You're doing very well with your pictures as it is! You just need to mindful of the light and trying to represent the coin as it looks in hand.
Darn dogs! LOL I'm so glad that's not a scratch. We went from a lab to a little short-hair dog - a lot less fur flying around our house now. :)
I'll bump my grade to AU-55/58 based on the new pictures! This coin only has a slight trace of wear IMO.

You just need to mindful of the light and trying to represent the coin as it looks in hand. After having another close look under the scope I do see what looks like a very tiny scratch. It is not visible to the naked eye, and it is very hard to see with the scope.Darn it... As for the photos, I was a member of the local photographic society for a few years. (Expensive hobby) I won several awards. I also got seven pictures published in a local tourism magazine back in 2018. I was taking an advanced digital photography class at a local university and part of the class assignment was to photograph local sites of interest. I even ended up guest lecturing for that class on the use of Photoshop including proper white balance and removing unwanted things from photos. So I kinda have a hand up when it come to taking good pictures.

HAHAHAHA....I knew something was up. Most newbies here take horrible pictures and require a lot of guidance. I could tell you had what it takes for good pictures right away....it's very refreshing!
If I were you, I'd cancel that microscope order. You can get everything you need out of the D100. My old Canon takes decent close-ups of mint marks, doubling, etc. - I'm sure you can do even better than I with the D100 and the right macro lens.

Unfortunately a 24mp microscope is still cheaper than a good closeup macro lens fro this old D-100. That and the D-100 is only 6mp. The lens I have will only focus at more than 3 1/2 feet with an extension tube to make it fill the frame, and that disables the auto-focus...
