This is the first error penny that I have found.I would like to ask for help in identifying what classification this modern Lincoln Penny falls into. Based on what I have read, I think it could be a multi-level die break with a Retained Cud.

Looks like a foreign substance on your coin. Try an Acetone dip and see if it comes off.

Yes, a stain or foreign gunk--perhaps of a corrosive nature. Post-strike damage, not a mint error.

that looks like a foreign substance on the coins surface. It did not leave the mint that way.

Yeah, that's some kind of resin or glue. Give it an acetone soak.

If you want a quick solution, push a tooth pick on it to see if it leaves a mark on it. Acetone is best but it may take sometime.

It's residue/glue. PMD. Should come off with pure Acetone.
