So.. I think you all might get a giggle out of this story.

20 years ago, when I was still a teen, I visited the USA for the first time. As this was a big occasion in the family, some relative handed me as travel money some American notes which were left in their hands by American relatives between the 50ies and 70ies while they visited the old continent where their families were from.
Now, back in those days, I really did not know better and didn't even stop at thinking that maybe those old notes could have had some collectability potential..

..believe me, they were old and well kept!
Anyhow, after landing at JFK, I go around NYC for the usual site seeings and for whatever reason I decided to buy at a random tourist stand a NYC baseball cap. As I hand out the money the guy at the stand---in a heavy NY accent---starts to complain about the money and how it must be fake! It was clear he had never seen them before! The whole thing was very comical and to this day reminds me of a comedy skit.
After a while and a whole lot of me trying to say they were just old the deal was made and I walked away with my NYC cap.
Every time I see people discussing old US notes I always go back to that and wonder which notes I had.. and how they were perhaps so valuable or rare... Guess I will never know!

I hope they made their way into one of your collections
