Halo everyone.an 86yr old woman's husband recently passed away. She asked me a huge favor to go through a bag of Lincoln cents for her. They are all dated only from the years 1960-1979, a few 59's are here as well. I'm taking a shortcut by asking the community if there are any key dates to specifically look for? For some reason, I begin to develop a rather annoying headache after looking at a handful of these cents and can't finish my task at hand. Do I just give them back or should I keep on going and finish what I promised to complete? Thanks for your time.Mr. Robert Aguilar was one of those people that you come across that was always nice to talk to, and I am lucky to have known him
Tough question to answer. While there are a few well-known errors or varieties in that span, they are so uncommon that it's highly unlikely you would come across one.
If they were in my possession, I would indeed search them for errors. As stated above there are some very well known errors(in that time frame) that are indeed valuable. Keep the reference sites handy to refer to! Have fun.
There are only a few high dollar variety's in that year span. The odds of finding one are very low. There might be an error or two, but the same, not very likely. I'm sure she wants to know what they are worth. I would explain this to her so if you do go through them, she won't be disappointed.
