For my first actual post here, I wanted to share my most recent cherry-pick, an 1834 capped bust dime, variety JR-6, very late die state with the famous 3 Retained Cuds on the reverse.

While the 1834 JR-6 is fairly common (R2), the VLDS with all 3 Retained Cuds fully formed is very scarce to rare. This coin I'd say is in Reiver state f. I've included close-ups of the Retained Cuds. The ATES Retained Cud formed first and is the weakest of the three. The arrows Retained Cud formed second and is very noticeable. The MERIC Retained Cud was the last to form, and on this example you can see very clearly how the plane inside the Cud has lifted (notice the discontinuity in the C in particular).

I was thrilled to find an example that's completely problem free and has a beautiful almost circulation-cameo look. I would grade it VF-30 overall.

Let me know what you think! (And also let me know if my pictures show up okay.)

Nice coin and nice pics. I concur with VF-30 after comparing with PCGS photograde.

First, welcome to CCF. Second, your pics look great and that dime is pretty special.

Super! Congrats on the find, that is indeed an attractive coin for a tougher die state. I agree with your grade assessment of VF-30.
