I'm starting a thread where I grade coins from my collection, then post pictures to get feedback from the community about how well I did.

I've been studying the ANA grading guidelines and spending much time on photograde.com. I'm pretty sure I'm getting better the more I practice, but input from others is invaluable. Please try to explain why you give the grade you give. Thanks, everyone!

Let's start with a Flying Eagle cent.

On grading copper color is important. I would be surprised if the coin looked in hand as shown in your photo. If the photo is correct, XF/VF Details cleaned.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear XF. I gave this a VF30.
Clearly this coin has a verdigris problem, but if the coin's been cleaned wouldn't the verdigris have been removed?

You might want to start a new thread for the quarter. Otherwise it will get lost.

@honest, this is a great idea, but you'll need to start a new thread for each new coin. I'll split off that most recent one into its own thread but pls continue to start new threads from here. Thx.
