Well, simple story on this one - I was just browsing for some nice BU Buffalo nickels on ebay and this popped up. it is a low to mid level BU coin. I won it on auction for about $70.00 (I would have gotten it a lot lower, but somebody was trying to snipe it out from under me..

Take a real good look at the mm. Looks like it might be the DDD/s variety, OMM1 or FS511

I do see a split serif on the upper part of the D, I'll get better images tomorrow when I have better lighting for my scope.

Well it is a direct match for VV OMM-001 which does have the comment for D/D/D/S FS-511
So you may be very correct on this - and a huge surprise to me..

Here is a closeup of the DDD/S that I picked up about 35 years ago. Compare your MM to this one. You should be able to clearly see the split serifs and the tripling of the D to the East. You may need to tilt the coin a little to see the third impression of the D
