Just wondering if anyone would pay a handling charge for a box of coins that you would get from a bank or credit union if they started charging one If you would be,how much would you be willing to pay John1

A handling fee for boxes of coins would be really bad.

No. I'd move my money out of that bank and on to another. Especially here in bankrupt California where we are already getting taxed to death

Afraid it's coming sooner than you all think. If Bank of America keeps buying up banks and imposing their rules, you will pay for a lot more than a few rolls. I've got accounts in 4 banks that all now are Bank of America. One account at Chase. Here is what they've been telling me. If I bring in any large or bulk coins, they will send them out for counting and there will be a charge for that service. The amount will be posted in my account. No account. Then there is a larger fee. One Bank of America still has a counting machine but told me if it breaks down, out it goes and all Bank of America rules take effect. You want to order coins? Sure, just show your account number and proof of a buisness that requires coins and the FEE for that will be minimal. No buisness that requires coins, no orders taken. You want a half dollar? We no longer order, take, hold, want them. Unfortunately not many banks around not owned by them. And I thought this was funny. I asked a teller what they would do if I brought in ONE HALF DOLLAR. She said per bank rules it would have to be sent out for counting.

Does the Chase bank charge you. I got to Chase banks here in Louisiana and order boxes and they don't charge me anything extra.

Believe are banks here who charge (Australia); but at wife's bank (Building Society), they have machine you feed coins into which sorts them in next to no time and spits out receipt when you're done... at no charge... and dozen makes any mistakes either! Can't argue with that. And probably answers your question John1Les

Goodasgold, Nice to here from you, I am talking about "buying" boxes of coins not taking loose coins in to be counted and rolled. I buy a couple boxes of Cents every month or so and it gets more difficult each time I go to the bank, I feel like I'm doing something wrong and sometimes I'm a little embarrest . John1

Like I said, be happy if you can do this now. If companies like Bank of America continue to grow and impose their rules everywhere, you will soon not be able to acquire large quantities of coins. In some ways I can understand their viewpoints on this matter. Although it depends on how busy a bank is. As pointed out to me by a bank person, ordering coins for someone to just look through is not good buisness for the bank, takes time from their employees, serves no banking purpose. The paper work is not free either and just who pays for that plus the delivery cost?

I agree Carl, guess they will have to use that $700,000,000,000 they got from the government to cover that cost.

Your misunderstanding the usage of that money. Bank presidents, CEO's of banks, etc., must have those bonuses or they couln't function properly. Those bonus checks inspire these people to work for a change. If, for some reason, there is any left overs, they would surely use it for the customers.

Any bank that would impose a fee for ordering boxes of coins would become my new dump bank for boxes of half dollars I search.
